Infusion Therapy

Infusion Therapy is a medical treatment that delivers medications, fluids, or nutrients directly into a patient’s blood stream through a vein. Infusion Therapy is used for medications that are not formulated or stable in an oral form; are inactivated by the digestive tract before reaching their target; or for patients who are unable to take oral medications. Using this route drug concentrations can be precisely calculated, and are delivered immediately into the blood stream for a variety of medical conditions in multiple specialties including cardiology, dermatology, gastroenterology, neurology, ophthalmology, and rheumatology. Infusion Therapy is commonly given in the hospital setting, but can be administered safely and effectively, in an outpatient center.
